Introduction to Computer Engineering
Einführung in die Technische Informatik (in German)
The lecture gives an introduction to digital information processing, especially into the fundamentals of digital technology and computer architectures. Starting with Boolean algebra and combinatorial circuits, we take a deeper look into flip-flops, sequential logic systems, gate-level and register transfer level descriptions. Typical basic circuits and design methodologies are discussed, finally leading towards complete microprocessor architectures and simple assembler programming. The main objective is to familiarize the students with the basic design flow for digital circuits and systems on different levels of abstraction and to convey an overall understanding of the structure and functionality of digital circuits and microprocessors.
